March 2017 Already?

Where has the time gone? SPRING BREAK is very near! Our students, parents, staff, and teachers have been working hard, inside and outside the classroom.
We are so proud.

Inside the classroom, students worked hard on creating their presentations, and our two days of student-led Portfolio Conferences were a big success. These conferences have been a part of Odyssey’s curriculum for many years. Students thrive on having control over their learning outcomes and offering information regarding projects they have completed, goals they have accomplished, challenges they have met head-on, and areas in which they could use some focus and improvement. Parents are thrilled to watch their children demonstrate leadership qualities and develop public speaking abilities during these conferences. Way to go, Odyssey students!

Outside the classroom, students, parents, staff,
teachers — for the 6th year in a row, arrived in the early morning hours to set-up and manage an Austin Marathon water stop. This is a big process from start to finish, and we are always so proud of how Odyssey School is complemented on their service and hard work. We not only set-up, manage, break-down, and give out water and Gatorade to the runners, but we cheer the runners on as well.

A special shout-out goes to John Brinson and student Noah for both completing the full marathon! Also, Odyssey teacher Ruchi Varma students Cameron, Sarah, Owen, and Will completed the Half Marathon on behalf of Odyssey School! We also had parents and other friends of Odyssey running and raising funds on our behalf. Thank you for helping us reach our $10,000 goal, which ensured our eligibility for a matching grant. $20,000 total! Way to go Team Odyssey 2017!

We are now in the midst of Amplify Odyssey! We have also been collecting tangible items for our Service Learning organizations. Thank you for your support and for sharing our story with others who may be interested in supporting our mission to teach and guide students with learning differences. We offer small teacher:student ratios and a non-traditional academic approach to learning.

We only have 6 hours of Amplify Austin remaining. Will you help Amplify Odyssey?

Please have a safe and enjoyable Spring Break!
