I believe curiosity is what makes humans thrive. Curiosity is the precursor to growth. Pattern seeking is another core human drive. And, in my eyes, the role of a teacher is to guide students to be curious about patterns they haven’t experienced before. I majored in Chemistry at Texas State University with a minor in psychology and I pursued these interests because of personal curiosity rooted in my life experiences. I related to these topics because they mattered to me. And in my classroom, we focus on connecting our lessons to meaningful parts of our lives. I foster an educational culture that guides students to find ways they can use learned knowledge in their own lives. Application is key to learning, but application is easier with tools. So, my classrooms are full of customized learning tools that have been shaped by the needs of past students (including my digital classrooms). Personalized education changes lives, and I’m dedicated to helping each student realize their intellectual, creative, and social potential. My goal is to light the fire of curiosity in every student and help them discover their individual path to greatness.
When I’m not in the classroom, you might find me exploring the outdoors, experimenting with herbalism recipes, or playing the most recent competitive trading card game.
